D-BOX was represented at the 10th International Symposium for Humanitarian De-mining and Equipment Exhibition in Šibenik, Croatia during the period 23rd to 25th April 2013 by Franco Curatella (Astrium), Dominic Kelly, Dr Irina Stanciugelu, Dr David Usher (CBRNE Ltd) and Dr Kaj Nummila and Colm McCaffrey (VTT).   The team consisted of the Project co-ordinator and those responsible for the Tool Box design, mine detection technology, human behaviour and ethics Deliverables.  Sadly other members of the consortium were unable to attend due to an airline strike.

The activities were organised by HCR Croatian Mine Action Centre (www.hcr.hr).  After the opening ceremony,  attended by the President of the Republic of Croatia, Professor Ivo Josipovic, there were five plenary sessions over three days in which over 30 speakers covered subjects including mine sensing, protection of civilians, stakeholder regions approach to cooperation, Quality Management, robotics, psychosocial rehabilitation of land mine survivors, mine victim assistance, data management, land release, use of UAV and UGVs, tools for PPE, mine destruction technology, the role of dogs and the development of tools at TRL 4-7.

There were two live demonstrations of equipment. The first was 22 km from Šibenik at the GAJ Test Site where four demining machines were shown in action. The second demonstration, at the Solaris test site, was of the use of equipment for underwater demining.
